Labels

I am a mother, not a "single mother" Or "baby mama".They are a couple, not a "gay couple". She is an adult, not an "adult with special needs". He is a person who has political beliefs, not a "republican" or "democrat". He isnt a "Mormon guy" just a guy. She isnt a "funny lesbian talk-show host" she is a funny talk show host.They are a family, not a "hispanic family". He isn't attractive for a "African-American man" he is an attractive man....Labels are for cans of tuna, not people. I am happy, because I choose to be. I don't let my "Scarlet Letter" define me; and we all have one; I'm just me.

I choose to not spill my beliefs all over because if yours are set I don't want to offend you and if yours are not set I don't want yours to be guided my opinions; because that's all they are MY opinions. We all have differences but what we all have in common is we are people, just ordinary people. I'm sick of our generation, why do we have to be so politically correct, why can't we all just be people.

Promote what you love rather than bashing what you hate... And believe me I need to work on this more than anyone. You are who you are because you did what you did when nobody was looking. I don't care about your "label" as long good character shines through. Hipster..cowboy...preppy...skater...athlete...rich...poor...PEOPLE.
