Double Parent

I lived with these two boys for quite a while a few years back; it was one hundred percent platonic. Dayne and Sam had been best friends since they were little, which was totally cool since they were really opposite. One year I anticipated a small tax return and was planning on buying a new iPod with it. I'm not certain why I anticipated that return since I was a self employed cosmotologist at a salon and had been warned to save money to use for taxes. After filing my taxes I bawled. I got two completely different reactions from the two boys. Sam got me cookies and told me it would be ok and let me cry; Dayne (first asked why I didnt save like I should have and asked if I thought I was above taxes) placed an idea about saving so it wouldn't happen to me again. Besides looking completely different they act so different. I always liked to ask my girl friends who they liked more because I would say I could tell a lot about them by their answer (the blondie is married to my friend, Savannah, but Sam is still single... Hit him up).

I have four nephews; two of them belong to my sister, Emily and two belong to my sister, Alicia. The two that belong to Alicia remind me a lot of Dayne and Sam. Grant is more logical like Dayne; he likes to know how things work and he has so much commons sense for a 13 year old. If he was on a plane he would like to know how it works and Hunter would like to know or pretend all the places it has been and all the people that have traveled on it. A few years back Hunter said he wanted to be a snowman when he grew up. Hunter likes to imagine while Grant likes facts. Boston thinks Hunter is the funniest person in the world but its Grant that tends her.The world needs both types of people.

Today Hunter, myself and Boston were walking back from church when he looked at me really confused and said, "how come everyone says you're a single parent?" (I wished Mr. Logical, Grant, was there to explain it).  I could tell he had thought hard anout that so I told him people say it because I'm not married right now. He then made my whole day when he stopped walking to look at me like everyone had it completely wrong when he said,"well that's dumb, if you are doing all the work of the mom and the dad you're not a single parent; you're a double parent."

His sweet little statement made my whole day. Today I'm thankful for the imagineers of the world.

Happy Sunday

    1. It's really good. I sent in a first draft. I had to have some stuff( audio and picture and texts) to make sure it wasn't slander but facts

  3. I like that! I always celebrated my mom on both Mother's Day and Father's Day because she was a double parent. This term totally fits that!
