I woke up for my 13th birthday really excited. I anticipated finding tons of bacon (my mom knew it was my favorite, I used to beg my sisters to let me eat the fat on theirs), presents to open... The usually fun birthday surprises my mom always planned. Instead our house was completely empty. My sisters were both married already so it was just me and my parents at home so I got ready for school alone convincing myself that it was so plan for a surprise party they had. A few minutes later one of my moms best friends, Jackie, came to take me to school. She told me that mom was really sick and my dad took her to the hospital during the night...we later found out that it was a really big kidney stone (huge).
My dad took me to see her after school and I told her (almost verbatim ) 'that I was really upset she did this on my birthday and that she was tying to steal my thunder'. I wish I could find that brat of a 13 year old now and smack her.
Karma hit and on Boston's birthday I wasn't doing so great. I ended up hurting my tailbone a few days before and it just wasn't getting better. I was taking pain pills but was just throwing them up and the bruise was getting bigger and moee red. I literally was in tears all night Sunday it hurt so bad and almost canceled the party. My big sister was so sweet to Boston and helped do all fun birthday things Monday since I couldn't. My Dr said I could come at six so I could still go to Boston's party (if you are looking for a great Dr in Cache Valley with amazing staff go to Dr. Avery). I gave her the cake and then watched her open the presents then had to have a friend drive me to the hospital while my family cleaned the mess.
It turned out the bruise on my tailbone turned into an abscess. It was miserable. I will spare the gross details but the Dr. had to cut it open and get A LOT if infection out, along with antibiotic shots and other terrible things. I honestly don't know if I had felt pain that bad, ever. And the whole time I just kept feeling guilting for messing up Boston's birthday.
I had to go back in yesterday to have gauze changed and today I am finally starting to feel a bit better! My nieces and nephews included my bum in their prayers Tuesday (it's actually in between my bum and back). All joking aside I'm so blessed to have such good friends who not only took care of me but Boston as well. The same mom who I got upset at for being sick on my birthday years ago even came and cleaned mine and Boston's house, got us dinner and stuff for breakfast. It has helped that Boston just turned two and has thought that every day since is also her "dir-bee' (birthday) so we will probably do a re-do of what I had planned for the two of us.
That's our update for the last two days... we hope your week has been going a lot better!

Just one of Boston's adorable birthday pictures by Sugar Rush Photography. Reason number 758 of why I love her.... She still has wild hair even in her 'princess dress'.
