Life Hacks Wednesday

Today I decided to start "Life Hacks Wednesday" on my blog... Which isn't alliteration so it doesn't sound nearly as cool as "Selfie Sunday" or "Throwback Thursday" but oh well. I just wanted to share a few of the tricks I do to make life a little easier and if you want to share some of yours with me so I can test them and post them on here I would love that! If you don't know any but know of a friend who has some awesome ones tag them in this post or share it with them for me.

1: A lot of people food prep so this isn't that amazing of a thing to do but I wanted to share what I did for mine on Sunday because in the two hours it took to do this I had all of our meals and snacks done for the week. Plus, I did it so you know it was pretty easy.

In a big brownie pan I put tinfoil down the center so I could separate my chicken for two separate seasoning. I used Lemon Pepper and Caribbean Jerk. I baked them in the over for about 45 minutes at 350 degrees. In a different large brownie pan I added cut sweet potatoes, asparagus, and brussel sprouts. I seasoned them with minced garlic, salt, pepper and coated them in coconut oil and backed them the same amount of time. I also prepared some quinoa to put in the dishes as well. I put them in their containers and then that part was done. I cooked ground turkey and added chopped onions, sweet peppers and garlic then used some of the leftover quinoa and made a dish out of that. I serve that with some salsa and avocado.

For my quick as easy breakfast dishes I cooked turkey sausage and while that was cooking in a large bowl I mixed together eggs, some of the leftover sweet peppers and salt and pepper. Once the sausage was cooked thru I cut them into pieces and added them to the egg mixture. I portioned out and poured the mixture in to a muffin tin, added cheese and baked for 30 minutes. Each morning I have an amazing tasting egg frittata that I like to eat with salsa and avocado and Boston likes hers with ketchup.

2: I am notorious for having a sweet tooth. Snacking is probably my best hobby so when I can think of ways to snack healthier I have to share. For the past ten years I have drank Almond Milk and so does Boston. Last night when I couldn't sleep I put this mixture together and it is probably my favorite to date. I used our Popsicle maker tray from the dollar store and poured in the Silk Dark Chocolate Almond Milk and froze them over night. They only have about 40 calories per Popsicle compared to the creamie which has around 175. We added coconut flakes to the ones that are freezing right now and we also have a batch with the Vanilla Silk Almond Milk with fresh strawberries in them. Boston loves them, too!

3: Since my first dentist appointment as a child I have always had at least two cavities (my mom can really attest to this). Which is so frustrating since I love flossing and I always brush my teeth. My dentist has told me that some people just have that problem. I looked into oil pulling and got positive feedback on the subject from my cousin, Tosha, who was a dental hygienist so decided to try it. How I do it is by getting a teaspoon of coconut oil and gargle it in my mouth for 15-20 minutes. I do it while I am taking a shower or bubble bath and it actually tastes good since it is coconut flavor. DON'T swallow the oil when you are done or spit it into a drain but spit it out in a garbage can. I can't give all of the details on how it works accurately but if you look it up online it gives a better explanation. It pulls the bad oils out, cleans up your gums, works on the enamel and my skin has cleared up a lot because of this and today at my dentist appointment for the first time in my life I left with ZERO cavities! This jar I got for around $10 at Wal Mart and it has lasted me since the end of February... a lot cheaper than getting a cavity fixed.

Those are my three tricks for 'Life Hack Wednesday' and I have some pretty cool beauty/spa ones to share next week. Do me a big solid and share some of yours with me soon so I can pass them along!?

***and just because I can't share a post without a picture of Boston here she is sleeping the other night with her cat, Tiny Baby. Any complaint I have ever made about that cat I took back after seeing how sweet this was. They love each other so much.
