I love being a mom

Here is a real confession of mine... Sometimes on Mother's Day when I look at social media it makes me a little sad/jealous to see a lot of other moms post what their significant others helped their kids get them. I have one of the most amazing moms tout there and I love celebrating her and what she has done for our family but I felt a little left out. I type this out and I am actually embarrassed because Mother's Day it isn't even about the material presents it is about the fact that I get to be a mom, that I have a beautiful daughter who loves me and I have a pretty amazing relationship with. This would be like the Easter Bunny being sad that he didn't get any candy on Easter because he is the Easter Bunny. I realize that example made zero sense but I didn't want to throw religion in there. This year I decided that since she made me mom I have a little present for her.

I am pretty lucky because I am a mom but at the same time I am also a daughter to someone who amplifies what a selfless mom should be, and sometimes you need to have someone that is your rock as well. A lot of people don't get that. Now, I can go on and on about my amazing mom... and trust me I am going to on Mother's Day but before then I wanted to share some of my very own favorite things about being Mom.

*I love having someone to depend on me; someone who needs me. It has been one of my favorite feelings knowing that my hug and kiss cures a scratch on a finger.
*I love getting to show things I love to my daughter. I have been to the wind caves countless times but it meant so much more to show them to Boston. All of my adventures are brand new adventures to her.
*I love being a mom because of the hugs.
*I love I get to see so much change and growth. It has been one of the most beautiful things to see my once tiny and helpless baby grown into spunky, charismatic, fiercely independent toddler.
*I love than I am learning to be more kind and rational than I normally would be.
*I love the mundane activities. Watching a cartoon, grocery shopping, picking flowers, bath time, brushing teeth.

I love being a mom. I love that I have learned more in her three years of life than I did my entire lifetime I had without her. I am excited to wake up Sunday morning with a big hug from my baby and spend all day with her; she really is the only present I need.
