Treat Yourself ***New Years Resolution

I spent last week teaching Boston what New Years Resolutions were... I mean, it was pretty difficult explaining that to a three year old that so went something like, "It's a new year so everybody picks something they want to do more of and then they work on it. Mommy wan't to run more so that's what I am going to work on...." Her response was that she wants to eat more ice cream, "all of the ice cream" in her own words. So, since she is three and I somewhat got the point across to her I am letting her go with it and we have been doing pretty good so far with her goal.

So, my goal really is to run more, I feel like winter turns me into a slightly lazy person so I want to kick that but my real goal is different and I have been hesitant to put it out there. My life is consumed by Boston, by any means please don't interpret that as a complaint, I love it. But some days it wears me out planning play dates, getting her to dance lessons, school and just being a mom in general, I just rarely have time to do things for me, and I am assuming that is just what being an adult is. But after a lot of research, (yes, I have actually researched this) it is mentally and physically healthy for you to, 'treat yourself' if even only occasionally for a better life. So, yes, I have been moderately scared to write that in a blog post feeling I could come off as selfish but I think other parents and people need to know that doing something for yourself on occasion is not only a good thing but a great thing.

Now, I am not saying that I am getting a weekly spa date by any means, but I am doing small things to help with my mental/physical self and it's been kind of pleasant. So, with going with my budget I wanted to share a few things that I have done to treat myself...(that's what I named my resolution) and here they are...

*Boston doesn't like shrimp and I do. So, one night after she went to bed I made some. I picked out really good one's from Lee's and then I cooked them with Cajun seasoning and lemon juice and while she was asleep I literally ate a half a pound of them.

*Yesterday my friend Cassidee, who is also a mom, and I went and got a facial and a scalp treatment from New Horizon's beauty school and it felt fantastic. Since it is a beauty school I didn't even come close to breaking the bank with this and it only cost $13.

*On that same note I splurged and bought myself a really really nice deep conditioner and super nice face masks I can do myself that I can just do at home.

****So, those aren't huge things, I didn't go in debt doing them but I have a huge list a weekly things to do for the next year that are just little splurges for mom but that won't break the bank at the same time.... And, actually I am really looking forward to getting to do all of them. As a parent it's kind of good to feel at your prime and pamper yourself every once in a while. So, if you have some great 'treat yourself' idea's that you do for yourself I would love to hear them! This is easily one New Year's Resolution I am really planning on sticking to.
