I was probably a better mom before I became a mom. When I would see a child in the store throwing a fit I planned out in my head how I would handle that, but I obviously wouldnt have a child that threw fits in stores because my parenting would be so super... if you were lucky enough to see us two weeks ago and Shopko you would know that didnt turn out how I always pictured.
When I heard of parents that let their kids sleep in their beds and then complained about how they wouldnt go back to sleeping in their own bed I would think in the back of my head how that wouldnt ever happen to me... for any of you close enough feel free to come see the struggle we have with getting Boston to sleep in her own bed after the last week of getting to sleep in mine from being sick.
The past two weeks Bostons obsession has been putting everything she can find to put in her mouth. I have pulled out of her cheeks a live box elder bug, tons of toilet paper, pieces of dirt from my shoe and just barely I walked in on her about to eat the toilet bowl brush. If I would have heard this before I had Bost I would have assumed the mom just didnt pay attention very well to their baby, now I understand better how hard it is to pay attention to your baby every second.
I'm lucky I get the chance to be a mom and learn as I go. Practice makes perfect (I hope). I can now say to Boston, "Give momma a love" and she will b-line crawl over to me to give me a hug and her slobbery version of a kiss, which makes all the not so picture perfect moments worth it.
