Boston is my best friend. There I said it. I know a lot of 'parent experts' tell you that you need to be your child's parent and not their friend and I agree somewhat...(that is why we spent a bit of the morning yesterday in timeout and had a real big discussion on why putting our cat in the fridge isn't nice).... I am her mom first, but I am also her friend. How could we not be besties when we are almost always together. Nothing, seriously nothing makes my heart as happy as when Boston tells me, "Mamma, yous my best friend." So, along with that I wanted to share some of my favorite things about being friends with a toddler.
*Sharing everything is fun when you share it with someone you love like your best friend. I like sharing my last name, my eye shape, my love of Halloween and even my candy with her.
*So you will never have to be alone.. Even when you want to to take a bath or use the restroom in private. Almost everywhere you go from the grocery store to your own doctor appointments you have them with ya.
*Because twinning with your toddler is pretty universally acceptable (which I am pretty notorious for). It would probably be so weird if I called up one of my adult friends and told them to wear what I was wearing but with you mini dressed like you it is pretty cool.
Friday we left the house and I didn't
even realize that we
were coordinating
until my mom pointed it.
*You are never bored with a toddler. Ever. All of the things like playing dress up, to having tea parties and to playing at the park that you had to give up as you get older now fill in your time, and it is pretty dang awesome to have them back.
*You never get a shortage of being cuddled.
*Lots and lots of laughter. Honestly, Boston doesn't even get how funny she is. She gives me he best kind of smiles and laughter, too. The kind that are real and spontaneous.
*Dancing. You would look a little strange if you were by yourself at the local Wal Mart dancing in the frozen food section it would maybe be strange but with your toddler dancing with you no one even blinks an eye.
Their are obviously a few disadvantages... my phone battery is almost always dead from her listening to music on it and I have stepped on a lot of leggos that she leaves around the house but those are so dang insignificant compared to all of the positive advantages. I am not quite certain how I got so lucky to be her mom but I am thankful I am! She is the best bestie I could ask for.
