Being a Mom

Someone once told me that being a mom would be expensive.
But they never knew that spending half of your paycheck on a special toy could make the value of money unimportant and a little trivial.

Someone once told me that being a mom couldn't be that fun.
But I bet they never experienced how much fun it is to spend Saturday night with popcorn, M&M's and watching 'Big Hero 6' for the 50th time cuddled up with the funnest person you have ever met.

Someone once said to me that you would just know how to be a mom by your instincts.
I think that person must have had a lot more experience with throw-up, all-nighters, and boogers.

Someone once said to me that being a mom couldn't be that exciting.
That person never experienced the pure excitement of their child on Christmas, Easter and birthday morning.

Someone once said to be if you are a good mom then you will never raise your voice or get frustrated.
I think that person never walked in on their three year old cleaning the toilet with your toothbrush.

I have heard once that the hardest part of being a mom has to be the pregnancy and labor (which I could almost believe).
That person never had to spend a night away from their child.

Someone once said that once your child moves out of you don't worry about them as much.
That person clearly doesn't have grandchildren and grow up kids with grown up problems to worry about.

I have once said that the hardest part of being a mom is watching my child grow up.
I said that because I have never had to experience death of a child and not got get to watch my child grow up.


I love being a mom. I love being Boston's mom. I sort of feel like Being a Mom was what I was meant for. I can say with 110% certainty their is nothing I would rather be doing. I will never be able to put into words to completely express how thankful I am that she was sent to me, that she chose me, that God trusted me enough to raise her. I'm feeling pretty thankful and pretty blessed tonight.
