I'm going to rewind to my fifth grade year in elementary school... My life was pretty rad for a fifth grader; I had a pretty close little squad of friends, I was in Mrs. (M) Harris's class, I had my first little boyfriend, Trevor, who would bring me a stuffed animal or chocolate every day to school (I'm one hundred percent serious) and I had recently become the envy of most of my girl classmates because in my neighborhood the very popular and crush-worthy, 'Rawlings Twins' lived. Now, if you know me you also remember that as awesome as my fifth grade year in school was halfway though it hit a hard spot when my dad passed away. While I was absent during that time everyone in my class picked out a state they got to research. In fourth grade our curriculum included learning about the state we lived in, Idaho, and in fifth grade the curriculum was learning about our country. Since I was absent the day everyone picked their states due to my dad passing the 'cool' (according to fifth graders) states were already picked....Ya know, California, Hawaii, New York.... I halfheartedly searched through the leftover states trying to figure out what one I could make something out of when Massachusetts caught my eye. To be honest it caught my eye because hidden in the name was a cuss word and I thought it was funny. I didn't have a lot of options to choose from so I took it.
I started my research on the state of Massachusetts intensely. I have a pretty addictive personality and once I start into something I cant stop. I thought it was amazing what a big role one little state played in the history of America from the Plymouth colonies to The Boston Tea Party. This research of mine continued long after we turned in our project because I had started to like so much about that state across the country. Then I started looking into the city of Boston. Their are so many amazing schools there, Boston University, Tufts and Harvard, just to name a few. Plus on the sports side of things they are the home of The Celtics, The Red Sox, The Bruins and right by Foxborough where The New England Patriots play.
I just liked that city so much I decided it would be the name of my first son...at five months pregnant I found out that my first baby was going to be a girl not a boy and I told Boston's 'dad that I think I liked my favorite city's name for a girl.
That was a really long description of how my child got her name and mostly a long rambling post but my Boston is asleep and I am reminiscing. I am in love with a city I have never been to. I have been to most states in the country and oversea's to Japan and Spain yet I haven't made it there. But we will go some day and it will be awesome. My daughters name came from my fifth grade state report.
